Lions, and leopards, and wildebeest calves, oh my!
We are now in the calving portion of the wildebeest migration cycle. Hundreds of thousands of calves have been born, adding to the large herds of migrating animals moving through Ndutu, where our Migration Camp is currently located. Not only is the abundance of wildlife exciting for visitors, but also for the resident ‘big cats’ who inhabit the area, such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. If you’ve visited recently you may have even spotted the lioness whose favourite tree to rest in happens to be right in front of our camp.
As day turns to night, the action most certainly doesn’t stop. Hungry lions who have rested all day are now on the move, searching for the right opportunity. From the safety of your tent you can hear the communication between an array of different animals - lions, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, leopard, and more.
As the sun rises, bringing a new day, those embarking on early morning game drives look for evidence of any action that happened overnight. Our excellent guides who are well versed in the area and the wildlife within it are sure to bring you an experience you will remember for a lifetime.

Soon, the migration will begin moving into the western corridor. During this time, our team will pack up Siringit Migration Camp again, and move to Kogatende (North Serengeti). The camp will be set and ready in June, ready to welcome you, our guest, and await the arrival of the migrating animals.
Meanwhile, in Central Serengeti, we pay tribute to the legendary Bob Junior - a male lion world renowned as the ‘king’ of Central Serengeti, as you may have read in your local news (the story has been covered by news outlets globally!). Named after his father, Bob Marley, Bob Jr ruled his large territory in the Serengeti for 7 years, and was recently killed by younger rivals in a match for the throne. Although sad, this is a normal occurrence in the animal kingdom. It has been reported that wildlife officials are preparing a special burial for the late ‘king’.
